Features and characters of the individual

This small-leaved lime tree is part of a double band of ten trees behind the church of the Abbaye de la Cambre. Their trunks are straight and regular, and their crowns have dense foliage forming a canopy, almost echoing sounds from the church. The gardener who planted them seems to have wanted to create a living monument. This group of trees spread a special atmosphere and light. When they all bloom together, they give a fragrance to the whole area around the abbey. They attract pollinating insects, and also walkers in the park. And at the end of June and beginning of July, they cover the ground with a fragrant and welcoming golden carpet. Children also like to roll in it!
