Features and characters of the individual

This tree grows with another chestnut tree. They have grown side by side for some hundred years. Today their crowns brush heads and their roots intertwine. They make such a harmonious pair in the heart of Place des Bienfaiteurs that some people believe that they are the ‘Bienfaiteurs’ in the name (“benefactors”).  Their presence does indeed enhance the balance of the square and the view of Avenue Rogier.
