For the children playing in the shade of its foliage, this little hornbeam must look like a giant. It looks like it’s hard, strong, and nothing could happen to it. However, this tree is in fact very sensitive. The vibrations coming from screams and games all around can be felt in its leaves, its trunk, and its roots. In addition, it has a fragile base; whenever the roots get trampled on, it cause stress for tree. Really, it’s true!
